Is There Love In This Air?

The 5th edition of Mumbai’s public art festival [en]counters – Is There Love in This Air? will open from Thursday 20th February to Sunday 2nd March, 2014.
Produced and curated by ArtOxygen since 2010, the festival provides a platform where Indian and international artists establish a dialogue with urban spaces and explore how contemporary art practice can become a catalyst to inquire Mumbai’s everyday life and activate its few open spaces.

Taking inspiration from a popular song of the ‘80s, this year’s festival will investigate the notion of air, intended both as a physical and mental breathing space and as an immaterial element connecting people’s lives.
Mumbai’s Carter Road Promenade, Juhu Beach and other spots in the city will become the sites of interventions by a group of artists coming from Hong Kong (Joel Lam, Law Yuk-Mui, Lo Chi Kit, Mee Ping Leung, Sing Tse, Soundpocket and Sunday Lai), India (Hema Upadhyay, Pradeep L Mishra, Reena Saini Kallat, Vibha Galhotra), and Singapore (Jason Lee).
Through site-specific ephemeral installations, situational performances, time-based street actions, community workshops, they will create new creative trajectories in spaces uncommon for the arts.

The project will be inaugurated with an opening seminar held at the Goethe Institut, Max Mueller Bhavan in Kalaghoda, Mumbai on Thursday 20th February, 2014 at 7.00 pm.
