Gum’s wall paintings are inspired from the people’s response to the question, ‘If you had a window, what would it open out to?’. He made several paintings on walls of their houses, creating visuals of their responses of their imagination. At Juhu beach, the artist transformed the paintings into sand sculptures, bringing in the imaginative responses to the public!

Cheng also made Chinese dumplings, involving people of different communities in a single process – observing the different shapes and forms that are made with different hands.

An independent curator, artist and social worker, Gum Cheng’s multidisciplinary art practice often embodies the arts ecosystem, social issues and politics.
